Bio

Carla Royal, M.Ed. is photographic artist and creativity coach. She works in the field of digital photography and is internationally recognized. Her interest in photography springs from a connection and love of nature and a desire for people and the earth to heal. Carla spent 25 years as a licensed psychotherapist and master certified coach before becoming a photographic artist. Carla learned to "see" through her years of counseling and coaching and believes those years greatly informed her photography. In addition to creating art through her photography, she has developed a unique coaching program that uses the creative process of photography to improve and enhance the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of individuals.

Statement

In our demanding and fast-paced culture, many of us have lost a deep connection to the land, to each other, and even to our own souls. We suffer as a result. Our relationships suffer. The earth suffers. Nature gently leads us back to attention, connection, and a sense of place where restoration and inspiration can arise.

My art is inspired by a love of nature. I am a wanderer of woods, field, and water, in love with tree, fern, dropped blossom, reflecting puddle, donkey ears, and riverboats. I love the clouded sky through tangled branches and light dancing off ocean waves. These sustain and inspire me. My hope is that through my art people will be inspired to reconnect with themselves and nature, opening to reconciliation, restoration, and inspiration.
